Burnet volleyball stays unbeaten in district play
The Burnet High School volleyball team defeated Marble Falls 25-15, 25-19, 26-24 Sept. 29 to go to 3-0 in District 24-4A play.
Next up is a big road match at Georgetown Gateway (3-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. The two teams are currently tied for first place in the district standings.
The Lady Dawgs (20-10, 3-0) were solid against the Lady Mustangs (0-3) in completing rivalry week in another win in three sets. Burnet had already beaten Lampasas three nights earlier and was looking to continue playing well without a letdown.
The Lady Dawgs ensured that didn’t happen as they made quick work of Marble Falls.
It also helped that future Lady Dawgs attended the match to cheer on the high school players.
“We welcomed our middle school volleyball players along with the young ladies that attended our volleyball summer camp,” Shipley said. “It was an incredible turn out, and I want to send a big thank you to our parents and our our girls who prepared a little surprise for all the middle school girls. It is so great to see our ‘big kids’ find a way to encourage and build the relationships with our younger kiddos.”
